Preview of the upcoming Pink and White Ladies Classic
The Pink and White Lady Classic will be back in action at Drury University to get ready for four days of epic high school basketball! Here are the top storylines to watch:
RISING STARS: Keep a close eye on some of the area's brightest young talent on the court. Teams like Logan-Rogersville, Glendale and Bolivar have explosive young lineups and were the most improved teams last year. If any of their teams win the Pink and White, it will prove that they are ready for bigger challenges.
BYE BYE ARKANSAS: Springfield Public Schools plans to switch to an all-region format next year, which means this could be the final battle for Arkansas powerhouses like Fort Smith North and Greenwood. Both schools are seeded, especially defending champion Greenwood. Northside has former Seneca standout Hazley Grotjohn to look forward to.
Local Giants Matchup Kickapoo is arguably the top big school in the area, while Fair Grove is riding high after winning the Class 3 State Championship, can we witness a dream matchup between them?Kickapoo's win over Carthage, and Fair Grove's win over Greenwood will pave the way for an epic semifinal matchup. Both teams are strong and this will be a battle of potential local gems.
Marshfield's breakthrough? The Lady Jays have been teetering on the edge of greatness for years. This year, with three of the best players in the league, they have a chance to really step it up. A win over either Nichols or Stratford for the White Division title would be a defining moment.
Players to watch Stratford's Elsie Larsen may have a tough time in the second round against Nichols' top-seeded Lady Eagles, but a strong performance could put her team back on top. Nichols' Laila Grant, one of the region's most impressive athletes, will try to solidify her star status. Also to watch is Eldorado Springs' Neely Schaaf, who will announce herself to the region in a second round matchup with West Plains.
The Pink & White Women's Classic will bring you four days of intense competition, rising stars and potentially historic clashes. Don't miss this basketball extravaganza!
